Birthday Gift Ideas! Always on Your Mind?
There can be no doubt that the number of birthday gift ideas available to us today is vast, however, as the saying goes it is quality not quantity. This is where the problem lies because it is very easy to find and purchase a gift for someone but it is much more difficult to choose the right present for the person in question. This coupled with the potential amount of gifts that you will be purchasing annually just for birthdays means that the fact that there is such a large selection out there must be a good thing for us all.
Let us say that you are a person in your mid twenties then for the majority it would be safe to assume that you will have a substantial number of family members, each of which have a birthday once a year. Obviously no two families are the same, so the exact number will vary but there is the potential that you will be buying gifts for parents, grandparents, children, siblings, aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews, which could be quite a number.
One option that you have is to strike up an agreement with some of these people whereby no gifts are exchanged at all, which I have done; however, most people enjoy receiving presents so this technique can not be over used. I have found that this sort of arrangement is best with friends or quite distant family members and you will most likely get a drink out of some of them on your birthday, which more often than not goes down a treat or gets a little bit messy, depending how many friends you have.
I would say that personally I buy around 8 - 10 birthday gifts every year, which may be about average but is still a nightmare when you detest shopping as much as I do, which is why at least half of my gifts are purchased online mainly because of the simplicity of it and because of the selection one can find without travelling anywhere. This route is occasionally floured when your postman is as erratic with his timing as mine but this is a minor issue.
Recently, in order to seem slightly more thoughtful and personal I have been favouring experience days and personalized gifts, of which there are numerous, but I still have not had to leave my house to do so.
